On July 18, 2022, the Supreme Court Independent Screening Panel concluded its deliberations by reporting out as most highly qualified the following candidates:

The New York County Democratic Committee has announced the formation of an Independent Screening Panel to report on the qualifications of candidates seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party for three (3) vacancies on the New York State Supreme Court to be elected in the November 2022 general election. The heads of numerous bar associations, community organizations and law schools have been invited to nominate members of the panel, which will be directed to report a total of no more than the nine (9) most highly qualified candidates for the three vacancies.

Candidates for the nomination may obtain applications from Kyle H. Ishmael, Esq., Executive Director for the New York County Democratic Committee, via email at manhattandems@gmail.com.
The deadline for submitting completed applications is Monday, June 13, 2022 at 3:00 PM.

Manhattan Democrats Proudly Endorse Kathy Hochul for Governor 2022

After meeting with gubernatorial candidates Kathy Hochul, Jumaane Williams, and Tom Suozzi, the Executive Committee of the Manhattan Democratic Party voted today to endorse Governor Kathy Hochul to a full term as Governor of the Great State of New York in the 2022 Democratic Primary. “Governor Kathy Hochul has a long history of building relationships in New York County,” said County Leader Keith L.T. Wright. “Kathy Hochul’s ability to speak to the range of issues of interest to the diverse executive committee of the Manhattan Democratic Party speaks to her leadership and we could not be prouder to endorse her as Governor.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by the Manhattan Democrats who represent the core values of our party and are firmly committed to advancing opportunity for all,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “Their grassroots organizing across Manhattan has helped expand and strengthen our party, and I look forward to working together to ensure Democratic victories up and down the ticket this year.”

The New York State Democratic Committee will meet on February 16th and 17th to endorse its nominee. A primary election is slated to be held on June 28, 2022; and the general election is expected to occur on November 8, 2022.

Results of the 72nd Assembly District Committee Meeting

In order to select a Democratic Nominee for the Special Election to be held on February 15, 2022, the 72nd Assembly District Committee held a meeting on Saturday, January 15, 2022 in Washington Heights.

The Manhattan Democratic Party is proud to support the selection by the 72nd Assembly District Committee of Manny De Los Santos as their Democratic Nominee for the New York State Assembly. After one round of voting by the hundred-plus County Committee Members present, District Leader Manny De Los Santos achieved 81% of the vote. We congratulate State Assembly Democratic Nominee Manny De Los Santos and thank each County Committee Member, District Leader, member of the public who engaged in today’s meeting, and especially the nominated candidates — honorable public servants from their community who included: Jacinta dela Cruz and Nayma Silver Matos.

Announcing the Meeting of the 72nd Assembly District Committee

As per the January 6, 2022 proclamation issued by Governor Kathy Hochul, a vacancy exists in the office of the Member of the Assembly of the State of New York from the seventy-second Assembly District in New York County, caused by the resignation of Carmen De La Rosa.

In order to select a Democratic Nominee for the Special Election to be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, the Manhattan Democratic Party will hold a nominating meeting of the 72nd Assembly District Committee on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00am. All interested candidates are invited to participate.

Results of the 68th Assembly District Committee Meeting

In order to select a Democratic Nominee for the Special Election to be held on January 18, 2022, the 68th Assembly District Committee held a meeting on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in East Harlem.

The Manhattan Democratic Party is proud to support the selection by the 68th Assembly District Committee of Eddie Gibbs as their Democratic Nominee for the New York State Assembly. After one round of voting by the hundred-plus County Committee Members present, District Leader Eddie Gibbs achieved 53% of the vote. We congratulate State Assembly Democratic Nominee Eddie Gibbs and thank each County Committee Member, District Leader, member of the public who engaged in today’s meeting, and especially the nominated candidates — honorable public servants from their community who included: Wilfredo Lopez, Tamika Mapp, Peggy Morales, Harry Rodriguez, John Ruiz Miranda, Dawn Sanders, Xavier Santiago, and Hilda Candy Vasquez.

The New York County Democratic Committee previously announced the formation of an Independent Screening Panel. As an update, the panel is to report on candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party for one (1) vacancy in Surrogate’s Court, one (1) vacancy on the New York County Civil Court, and three (3) seats in the Municipal Civil Court Districts (2nd, 3rd & 4th MCDs), all of which will be voted on in the 2022 general election. The heads of numerous bar associations, community organizations and law schools have nominated members of the panel, which has been directed to report out the most highly qualified candidates for each seat.

The New York County Democratic Committee has announced the formation of an Independent Screening Panel to report on the qualifications of candidates seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party for one (1) countywide vacancy, one (1) Surrogate’s Court vacancy, and up to four (4) Municipal Court District seats. The heads of numerous bar associations, community organizations and law schools have been invited to nominate members of the panel, which will be directed to report a total of no more than the three (3) most highly qualified candidates for the one countywide vacancy and three (3) most highly qualified candidates for each of the remaining vacancies.

Candidates for the Court may obtain applications from Mr. Kyle Ishmael, the Executive Director of the New York County Democratic Committee, via email at manhattandems@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting completed applications is December 23, 2021 at 5pm. Questions concerning this year’s panel should be directed to Mr. Ishmael via email.

Announcing the Meeting of the 68th Assembly District Committee

As per the December 9, 2021 proclamation issued by Governor Kathy Hochul, a vacancy exists in the office of the Member of the Assembly of the State of New York from the sixty-eighth Assembly District in New York County, caused by the resignation of Robert Rodriguez.

In order to select a Democratic Nominee for the Special Election to be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2021, the Manhattan Democratic Party will hold a nominating meeting of the 68th Assembly District Committee on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00am.

Results of the 30th Senate District Committee Meeting

In order to select a Democratic Nominee for the Special Election to be held on November 2, 2021, the 30th Senate District Committee held a meeting on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Robert F. Smith Theater in Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park.

The Manhattan Democratic Party is proud to support the selection by the 30th Senate District Committee of Cordell Cleare as their Democratic Nominee for the New York State Senate. After three rounds of voting by the hundreds of County Committee Members who attended the meeting, Cordell Cleare achieved 57.4% of the vote to Athena Moore’s 42.6%. We congratulate State Senate Democratic Nominee Cordell Cleare and thank each candidate, County Committee Member, District Leader, and member of the public who engaged in today’s meeting.
