2022 CIVIL COURT INDEPENDENT JUDICIAL SCREENING PANEL

The New York County Democratic Committee previously announced the formation of an Independent Screening Panel. As an update, the panel is to report on candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party for one (1) vacancy in Surrogate’s Court, one (1) vacancy on the New York County Civil Court, and three (3) seats in the Municipal Civil Court Districts (2nd, 3rd & 4th MCDs), all of which will be voted on in the 2022 general election. The heads of numerous bar associations, community organizations and law schools have nominated members of the panel, which has been directed to report out the most highly qualified candidates for each seat.

The New York County Democratic Committee has announced the formation of an Independent Screening Panel to report on the qualifications of candidates seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party for one (1) countywide vacancy, one (1) Surrogate’s Court vacancy, and up to four (4) Municipal Court District seats. The heads of numerous bar associations, community organizations and law schools have been invited to nominate members of the panel, which will be directed to report a total of no more than the three (3) most highly qualified candidates for the one countywide vacancy and three (3) most highly qualified candidates for each of the remaining vacancies.

Candidates for the Court may obtain applications from Mr. Kyle Ishmael, the Executive Director of the New York County Democratic Committee, via email at manhattandems@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting completed applications is December 23, 2021 at 5pm. Questions concerning this year’s panel should be directed to Mr. Ishmael via email.
